HR Consultant in Derbyshire
Growing a business in Derbyshire is one thing; building a team that actually supports that growth is where most founders get stuck.
The people side typically gets cobbled together over time, rather than being built properly.
Someone gets promoted because they were brilliant at their job, then finds themselves managing others with no structure and no support.
Onboarding gets pieced together the first time someone new joins and hasn't been looked at since.
Policies get added when something goes wrong, not before.
None of that feels wrong at the time.
But over time, it leaves you with a business where standards shift depending on who's involved, new hires take too long to find their feet, and more of it comes back to you than it should.
When you try to grow, it gets harder rather than easier.
See exactly what’s holding your business back and what to fix first.
Building the foundations, before the cracks appear…
I'm Maritsa Inglessis, founder of The People Keeper. I work with business owners across Derbyshire who have between 2 and 50 people and ambitious plans to grow.
Most HR support kicks in after something has gone wrong: a dispute that needs managing, a resignation that catches everyone off guard, a situation that's escalated because nobody caught it early enough.
Although that clears the immediate problem, the thing that caused it stays exactly where it is.
My work starts earlier.
I build the foundations, systems and culture that make people problems far less likely to appear in the first place.
That means how you hire, how you bring new people in, how your managers operate day to day, and whether the way things run is actually set up for the growth you're planning.
When those things are right, growth gets easier.
When they've been put together reactively over time, growth puts pressure on everything that's already not quite working.
Based in Chesterfield, working remotely with businesses across Derbyshire
I work with growing businesses across Derbyshire, including Mansfield, Worksop, Derby, Matlock, Belper and the surrounding areas, as well as businesses in Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire.
Working remotely is how I've built my business from the start.
It works well for the business owners I work with: you get proper, senior-level people expertise without the overhead of someone in the room every week. Everything gets done properly, just not necessarily in the same building.
Where most businesses start
The People & Growth Diagnostic gives you a clear, evidence-based picture of where your business is being held back, what's creating risk, and what to tackle first and in what order.
So instead of guessing what's wrong, or spending money fixing the wrong thing, you know exactly what needs to change and why.
